THE case against the man accused of raping women he allegedly lured women online when asking for nude pictures and thereafter blackmailing them into doing sexual favours, will go on pre-trial August 11.

Glen Martinus faces four charges of rape and his case was postponed at the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Marthinus, a Mamre rugby coach, is accused of having groomed his victims from Atlantis and Mamre before raping them.

He is alleged to have posed as a model agent, doctor and online fitness instructor and lured a number of his victims by creating fake social media profiles, soliciting nude photos and videos from them, and then blackmailing them for sexual favours.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said the matter was postponed for the finalisation of a charge sheet and pre-trial.

Martinus is out on R10 000 under house-arrest conditions.

“The accused is immediately placed under house arrest for the duration of the trial and until the case is finalised. The accused is not allowed to leave his residence at any particular time except for work purposes, to attend to a medical emergency of himself and an immediate family member such as his wife and children and to attend a funeral,” court documents read.

In another case, a father and son also appeared at the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court for allegedly grooming and raping young children.

Ntabazalila said: “The accused are Raymond and Storm Bailey. They are charged with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. They had bail fixed at R2 000 and their next court date is August 5, 2021. The case has been postponed for further investigation.”
