CAPE TOWN - The Beaufort West SPCA is in dire need of urgent financial support as little to no community support could lead to the facility having to close its doors.

The Beaufort West SPCA does not just serve the immediate area but also attends to cruelty complaints, emergencies and disasters in Prince Albert, Merweville, Leeu Gamka, Fraserburg, Laingsburg, Klaarstroom, Nelspoort, Murraysburg, Loxton, Carnarvon and Victoria West.

There are no other animal welfare organisations, veterinary or other assistance in these areas for the many farm, wild and domestic animals that are in need of assistance, the SPCA said.

“For the past year and a half, we have tirelessly attempted to survive and prevent the closure of the Beaufort West SPCA. Unfortunately, the Beaufort West SPCA still lacks stable and sustainable funding from public donations, our only source of income. At this stage, the situation is dire, with only R1600.00 to cover salaries or overheads. We may have to close the doors of the Beaufort West SPCA.,” the organisation added.

“Take notice that the NSPCA prohibits SPCAs from fear-mongering with threats of closure. However, this is no threat. It is rather the stark reality that Beaufort West SPCA is currently facing.”

They are pleading with the public to assist the organisation and, in turn, the animals who are “neglected, lost, unwanted, abandoned and abused”.

Donations can be made into the following account:
