The families of the victims killed in an explosion at Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) last Monday will meet with representatives of the company during a lunch today at the company’s Macassar plant, where the incident happened.

This forms part of a series of engagements with the families, staff and the greater community as part of the healing process.

“We are continuing to support each other during this difficult time. Our priority remains the families and we are providing whatever assistance we can,” said RDM chief executive Norbert Schulze.

He said the company had hoped that the results of the police’s forensic investigations would be ready by yesterday, but it seemed more likely that the process would be concluded at the end of this week.

Schulze said the company would continue to provide regular updates, but could release the names of the deceased only officially once the identification process had been concluded.
