The South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) say #FeesMustFall students have made their point, and must return to class.

Continued student protests across the country have disrupted lecture times at universities, and the teacher union had called for the students to complete their studies.

Sadtu provincial deputy general secretary, Nkosana Dolopi, said: “We are saying theirs is a noble cause, but they have a responsibility to themselves, their communities, the country and especially their parents. They must continue their studies and complete their education because they are needed in many sectors of society. (Students) own families must be lifted out of poverty as they are the future breadwinners,” said Dolopi.

While their call for free education has reached government and the private sector, Dolopi warns students must be wary of those intending to usurp their cause for their own ends.
