Police say it’s unclear what led to the death of a captain who was found dead in his office at the Goodwood police station.

His colleagues were in disbelief last Wednesday morning when they discovered the body of one of their senior officers at the station.

Captain Anton Abrahams was found dead in his office chair behind his desk.

He was declared dead on the scene.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut said that while the cause of death has not been established, it is believed Abrahams died of a suspected heart attack. No foul play is suspected.

“The death of Captain Anton Abrahams is still under investigation and a death inquest case docket has been registered,” Traut said.

The Goodwood Community Police Forum had worked closely with Abrahams tackling and solving crimes.

Condolences poured in for the officer’s family with some shocked Goodwood residents taking to social media to express their loss.

One resident said the death of Abrahams would be a big loss for the Goodwood community.

Abraham’s grieving family could not speak to the Cape Times when approached for comment yesterday.
