Cape Town – Two suspects have been charged with dealing in drugs after they were nabbed at Cape Town International Airport for attempting to hide drugs in the soles of their shoes.
The SAPS said that on Friday, June 24, police deployed at Cape Town International Airport received information about a possible drug courier on an aircraft from Dubai.
The police searched certain passengers after they disembarked.
"Two passengers were identified and drugs confiscated found hidden in the soles of their shoes. A man aged 19 and a female aged 30 was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs," SAPS spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said.
On Saturday, members of operation Restore deployed in Delft raided a premises in Kuyper Crescent in Extension 19, Belhar.
During the search they confiscated mandrax tablets, methamphetamine and cash.
A 63-year-old woman was arrested.
In another unrelated incident, members of the Maitland Flying Squad received information about a vehicle taken during a house robbery in Claremont on Saturday.
While on patrol they spotted the vehicle and intercepted it near the corner of Bluegum and Kiaat roads in Bonteheuwel.
Two men, aged 20 and 26, were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.
“Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Bellville and Bishop Lavis,” Swartbooi said.
