Cape Town - The Bishop Lavis Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has released an identikit of the woman believed to be involved in the kidnapping of 2-month-old Kai-isha Meniers.

Baby Kai-isha, dressed in a green vest and blue leggings and covered with a pink blanket, was kidnapped on April 30.

She was last seen being carried away by an unknown woman who had approached her mother, Francis Meniers, 41, and asked to see the baby.

Meniers reported that the woman claimed to be pregnant in order to earn her trust.

Meniers then left the suspect with her child and two of her siblings, aged 2 and 10 years old, and went inside a retail store.

When she came out, the infant was gone with the woman, who allegedly offered the 10-year-old sibling R10 to go to buy sweets and used the opportunity to run away with the baby.

Several leads and a number of searches later, there is still no sign of baby Kai-isha and the snatcher.

However, the family and others assisting in the search remain hopeful she will be found.

Police released screenshots from CCTV footage showing a woman dressed in a black-and-white spotted top and striped pants carrying a baby.

She is about 1.7m tall, has a thin face, neat eyebrows, a large forehead and hazel or brown eyes, according to a description provided by the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit.

Anyone with any information or who can identify the person in the identikit can anonymously contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Thembisa Buqa, on 073 519 3384 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
