Cape Town - After labelling Covid-19 a “plot” to make money, Afrikaans singer and songwriter Steve Hofmeyr has tested positive for Covid-19.
Hofmeyr announced to his fans on Facebook that he had tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday; however he had only chest pains and no other symptoms.
This follows weeks of his telling fans on his Facebook page that it was likely the virus was a plot to make money. “Is there a plot? I think so. But not to kill us. Just to make a lot of money, and that can give a reckless propaganda a lot of oxygen,” he had written.
After testing positive, he posted: "Sorry everyone. I wanted to test and test until it was negative, but I'm positive. I feel good. Except for a nasty chest, I have no symptoms. Thanks for so much advice and great support. These are the prayers I feel because there are angels around us."
But he said things took a turn for the worse on Monday.
“Most people rub ivermectin on their arms and are healthy within three days. Doesn't look like I'm going to be that happy. Within 48 hours I was flat, poor oxygen counts, chills, high temperatures, kidney pain, dizziness, cough.
“Saturday night I poured gallons of water over my bed and lay in it just to get my temperatures below 38°C. It's a turbulent disease,” he wrote.
