Police on Monday confirmed the body of the missing Nicola Pienaar had been found in Paarl in the backyard of a 32-year-old suspect on Sunday night.

“The investigation team was led to the premises by the suspect, who pointed out a secluded area in the yard, where the body was found buried under rubble,” police spokesperson FC van Wyk said.

“The circumstances surrounding the matter are still under investigation.”

More than a week ago, police arrested Jacobus Oosthuizen, 32, her boyfriend for a year, in Port Elizabeth after he was found driving the car of Pienaar’s mother, Marlaine Pienaar-Vice, a psychologist. At the time, Oosthuizen told police the couple had a fight and he had dropped her off in Oudtshoorn.

He appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Friday, when his case was transferred to the Paarl Magistrate’s Court.

“The 32-year-old suspect will appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of theft of motor vehicle, fraud and murder,” said Van Wyk.

The 28-year-old Pienaar had been reported missing on January 8 by her mother.
