Cape Town - Authorities have appealed for anyone with information about the theft of bicycles worth an estimated R1 million, including that of Cape Town Cycle Tour champion Kim Le Court De Billot, to come forward.

Mauritian-born Kim Le Court De Billot posted on social media on Thursday afternoon that 12 bikes belonging to the Mauritian National Team had been stolen.

Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk said Paarl police called for the assistance of the public regarding the theft of bicycles from a guest farm in Paarl, between Wednesday and Thursday.

“A cycle group from Mauritius who participated in the Cape Cycle Race resided at the farm before their departure to participate in the Africa Cycle Race in Egypt.

“This morning (Thursday) it was discovered that 12 of the bicycles were stolen from the storage facility on the guest farm,” Van Wyk said.

Le Court De Billot posted that she was shocked at the incident.

“All 12 bikes of the Mauritian National Team has been stolen in the early hours of today from Picardi Guest Farm in Paarl.

“To all my South African friends please do share this post and information. Please do contact me or anyone from the team if you can help us.

“We are flying to Egypt tomorrow afternoon for the All African Championships,” she said.

Le Court De Billot won her third Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday in 2 hours 08 minutes 05 seconds, ahead of Hout Bay local, and former SA road champion, Hayley Preen and mountain biking star Candice Lill.
