Three attempted murder suspects nabbed after tip-off in Stellenbosch

Cape Town – The Anti-Gang Unit in the Western Cape has arrested three attempted murder suspects on the run in Stellenbosch following an extensive operation.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said they acted on a tip-off that suspects linked to an attempted murder charge were hiding out at a residence in Cloesteville, the SABC reported.

He said the men, both aged 33, were arrested on the scene. Van Wyk said they also nabbed a 42-year-old woman at a nearby residence for the alleged possession of a hunting rifle. 

The premises is allegedly linked to the Americans gang, he said. The suspects will appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, police have made several breakthroughs in their ongoing fight against gangsterism and crime on the Cape Flats, the Cape Argus reported.

Twenty-two wanted suspects, aged between 18 and 31, were arrested for crimes including murder, armed robbery, theft, malicious damage to property and assault.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the suspects, all from Hanover Park, were arrested during police patrols.

“The suspects are all due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.”
