Michael Myekwa, 33, a sand castle artist from Joe Slovo, said he was asked by law enforcement to leave Fish Hoek beach on Saturday as he did not have permission to busk.
Myekwa started making sandcastles on the beach two weeks ago, and passers-by would tip him.
His creations included a crucifix, a rhino, and an alligator.
