Cape Town – Residents at Grand Central building in Wynberg were yesterday reeling in shock after a 4-year-old boy fell to his death from the 6th floor.

At the time of the incident, the child had been left in the care of a family member, police said.

“At the time of the incident, the boy was left in the care of his 25-year-old uncle. A death inquest case docket has been registered.”

Emergency Medical Services and Forensic Pathology Services spokesperson Deanna Bessick said that services responded to a call for assistance outside the Grand Central Building.

“The call came through to our Communication Centre at 9.09am and the ambulance arrived on scene at 9.14am.

“Unfortunately, the patient was dead on arrival. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the parents and family of the patient,” she said.

Wynberg ward councillor Elizabeth Brunette said she was saddened by the news and sent her condolences to the family.
