Durban - South African comedian, Loyiso Gola, this week showed some love for fellow comedian, Trevor Noah.

Gola, who is currently touring with his one-man show, Unlearning, posted a pic of himself, Noah and David Kibuuka which was taken almost a decade ago.

In the post, Gola noted that the trio had been doing comedy at a Jazz venue called Blues Room in Sandton, Johannesburg.

"Maaaan it's crazy that @trevornoah now hosts the @thedailyshow. It blows my mind till this day. Happy to have witnessed part of that historic journey. Trevor was a hard act to follow...and kinda ahead of the pack...he worked at it constantly. He deserves every bit of success. He has inspired a whole generation from the continent of Africa."

This about ten years ago at a Jazz venue called Blues Room in Sandton Johannesburg. We did stand up at that venue for about 3 years until they demolished the building. That’s me going through my set while someone is taking a picture of us. We would discussed stand up and football for hours after the shows. Maaaaan it’s crazy that @trevornoah now host the @thedailyshow . It blows my mind till this day. Happy to have witnessed part of a that historic journey. Trevor was an act hard to follow .and kinda ahead of the pack... he worked at it constantly. He deserves every bit of success. He has inspired a whole generation from the continent of Africa. Me and a bunch of close friends have a name for him which we have been calling him for years. Won’t divulge it on Twitter 😂😂😂😂.... power to the homie.

Noah later commented on the post, "What are we wearing??? We look like we're about to give a speech at a funeral. This was literally where we forged our comedy. Most nights was just the three of us. Me hosting, Loyiso closing the show and David Kibuuka shouting at us to be funnier. No pay for the first year only practice and great times with friends. Loyiso inspired me to think bigger, Kibuuka inspired me to be better. And look at us now. I'm working with Kibuuka at the Daily Show and Loyiso is touring the world doing stand up and living his dream. Thanks for this memory my friend."

Noah was in SA last week when he hosted the Global Citizen event in Johannesburg.
