Durban - The two men arrested in Crossmoor Chatsworth for dealing in almost R1.3 million worth of drugs appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Kishorlall Hambapesad, 45, and Mozambican national Lucas Mashaba, 21, were arrested on Sunday in Golden Poppy Street in Crossmoor, Chatsworth.
Mashaba abandoned his bail application.
Judgment in Hambapersad's bail application is expected on September 25. The court heard that he has a previous conviction for possession of dagga.
Police confiscated 22 200 heroin capsules, 2 826 pieces of rock cocaine and 505 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R1.3 million.
According to KwaZulu Natal police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane the arrest was a joint operation between Provincial Organised Crime Unit, Provincial Drug Unit, and Umlazi K9 unit.
East Coast Radio reports the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is investigating claims that one of two men arrested was the chairperson of a local school governing body.
