Durban - A struggling non-profit organisation which cares for stray cats and feral cat colonies in Durban received a cash injection by an anonymous donor on Tuesday.

Nkki Moore, who manages Cats of Durban, said she received the most "stunningly unexpected" donation of R10 000.  The donation was a massive and unexpected surprise to her that she had to wait a few days to make sure this was not a hoax.

"When it was confirmed, I tracked down the donor and asked them if we could thank them publicly for their kindness," she said.

This is the reply Moore received from the donor:

"We do not need any thanks, as all the “Thanks” goes out to you all that are trying to make a difference in the lives of these poor helpless babies. I wish we had more to share.  After Jeni helped us to trap 1 of our feral cats at Island View that had been knocked by a truck (we suspect), I promised that I would donate some of my 13th cheque to assist some other cats in your organisation. Thank you for helping those who have no voice"

Moore said the donation will be paid to our spay clinic which will end up sterilising 40 cats.
