Durban - Teenager Ella Addison is making an international name for herself because of her love of sharks.
Ella, 14, has been swimming with sharks, at the Aliwal Shoal on the KZN South Coast, since she was five years old and the animals hold no fear for her. She swims with her shark expert parents, Gail and Mark Addison.
Ella has even conducted research and kept a visual diary, at a spot called Shark Rock, into why black tip sharks are multiplying and tiger sharks are disappearing.
Her research and dives were for a school project and the footage that was filmed by her father was titled Ella and the Secret of Shark Rock.
The film, shot when Ella was 11, is being screened in the wildlife segment on SAA’s in-flight entertainment channel.
Ella, who attends St Mary’s DSG in Kloof, has also appeared on the American TV programme, Today.
