Durban - The Ugu Municipality has appointed Eyadini Lounge's Jabulani "Mjey" Zama to host the Ugu Jazz Festival for the next three years.

The Ugu Jazz Festival did not take place this year as no company had been appointed to host it, resulting in the event being cancelled this year.

Isolezwe reports that Eyadini Lounge has been handed the contract for the next three years, commencing from 2019 until 2021. The most recent contractor, Cyassound Holdings, which is owned by Siyabonga Msomi, had been organising the event for the past seven years.

Municipal spokesperson France Zama said the appointment was made on Monday. The municipality has apologised for failing to host the event this year.

"We did release statements to apologise to the supporters of the Ugu Jazz Festival. Next year we will have a huge event that will attract people from all over the province and the country. The company that has won the contract has promised to make this an event to remember," said the spokesperson.
