The mother of the woman Gerald Rosselloty murdered has refused to accept his apology.

“After everything he has put us through, he accepts responsibility now. After so many years. This does not bring my daughter back to me,” said Busisiwe Madondo, who spoke to the Daily News after Rosselloty was found guilty of murdering Nokwazi Ntuli, who was his girlfriend at the time.

Ntuli was Madondo’s only child.

“When I was first introduced to Gerald, he seemed like a sweet person. He spoke to me in Zulu and I know my daughter cared for him. I did not expect him to be the one to take my child away from me. I thought he would protect her,” Madondo said.

Madondo praised the investigation and prosecution teams for their efforts in bringing her daughter’s killer to book.

“All we want is justice and they have helped my family get justice for Nokwazi,” she said.

Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Rishi Seegobin and two assessors also found Rosselloty guilty of the rape of a six-year-old child.

The child’s mother, a former girlfriend of Rosselloty, said she was satisfied with the verdict, and was waiting for the sentence.

“We are still on tenterhooks. My child has suffered so much at the hands of this monster. He needs to be put away for the rest of his life,” she said.

Rosselloty’s current girlfriend and mother to his young son, Jogayle Wahl, avoided the media after court proceedings, but looked genuinely upset during Rosselloty’s impromptu confession.

Wahl, who testified on Rosselloty’s behalf at his request, was also mentioned in Judge Seegobin’s judgment.

The judge said that it was clear that Wahl’s testimony was designed to mislead the court as she sought to assist Rosselloty in his devious defence.

Wahl gave birth to Rosselloty’s son on the same day that Ntuli was later killed.

Judge Seegobin concluded that it was highly probable that Ntuli’s continued presence in Rosselloty’s life was becoming a thorn in his side, that he had to have permanently removed.

Confessing to the murder on Tuesday, Rosselloty said that this was not the case, and that Ntuli’s death had been unintentional.

“Just because Jogayle had given birth to my son, does not mean that I wanted to settle down with her. I loved all my girlfriends equally, it’s just how I am,” he said.
