Durban - When you woke up this morning, you were worried about the wind, rain and petrol price, right? But for hundreds of slay queens and social media models, the world may as well have ended after they realised that Instagram was offline.
The popular photo-sharing site was down for both mobile and desktop users, across several countries and cities. The app has more than one billion active monthly users and has grown by adding features such as messaging and short videos.
Those logging on kept seeing an error message saying, "couldn't refresh feed".
But it didn't take Twitter users long to catch on to the glitch and within minutes #Instagramdown was trending.
