DURBAN - The South African Police Service (SAPS) at Ntuzuma have opened a case of business robbery for investigation following an ATM bombing in the Lindelani area.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Tembeka Mbele said the ATM was bombed late on Wednesday evening.

“The complainant alleged that the butchery was closed when he heard footsteps outside and went to check. He was then accosted by two unknown males with firearms who led him to the back door of the butchery where six other suspects were waiting. The suspects wanted the money from the ATM.”

She said the suspects tied up the complainant and ransacked the place in Sboyeni Road.

“They (suspects) gained entry into the ATM with the use of explosives from the shisanyama located on eSboyeni road in the Lindelani area. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, along with other electronic and clothing items from the premises, no one was injured,” said Mbele.

A case of business robbery is under investigation.
