Durban — A resident raised the alarm after a blind pensioner fell into a stream in a Phoenix suburb, north of Durban.

KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said a blind pensioner was rescued after falling into a stream in Stonebridge Drive, Phoenix, on Thursday morning.

Naidoo said that KZN VIP was dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from a resident requesting assistance in rescuing a pensioner who had fallen down an embankment into a nearby stream.

“Upon the arrival of KZN VIP, the pensioner was rescued and further assessed by VIP medics for any injuries before being rushed to a nearby medical facility,” Naidoo said.

He also said that all emergency services were on the scene.

Attempts to get more information on the condition of the pensioner were unsuccessful.
