Counterfiet goods seized in Verulam

Durban - Police raided several shops for counterfeit goods in the Verulam Central Business District, north of Durban on Wednesday. 

Parboo Sewpersad, spokesperson for Durban Metro Police spokesperson, said seven shops ranging from ordinary wholesalers, a tuckshop and clothing fashion stores were raided. 

Sewpersad said name brand roll-ons, shoe polish, name brand takkies, name brand sandals, name brand track suit pants, name brand T-shirts, pens, okapi knives and Tramontina cutlery sets. 

"All the store owners signed a civil undertaking were by they voluntarily surrendered their goods for destruction to the brand holders. They were issued a warning statement. The goods were taken to the Counterfeit goods warehouse for Safekeeping until a notice for destruction is issued by the brand holders.

Total estimated value of goods recovered amounts four hundrend thousand rands," Sewpersad said. 

The raid involved officials and police from the Police Crime Intelligence Unit, eThekwini Outer North and Durban Metro police Verulam
