DURBAN - THE four Lamontville men accused of killing three people and injuring a fourth were remanded to the Department of Correctional Services Westville until next Wednesday.

They made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The court ordered the media not to name the men until an identity parade has been conducted.

On Saturday night, Lamontville police officers responded to a shooting on Ndlovu Road. Gunmen had opened fire on a vehicle parked on the road.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker said two of the vehicle’s occupants were killed instantly. A third person, Bright Dlamini Zulu, was seriously injured. “The body of a woman with gunshot wounds to the head was found in the bushes adjacent to where the shooting occurred,” Naicker said.

The court charge sheet identified the deceased as Lungisani Khoza, Navishka Roopnarain, 17, and Sphelele Dimba. Naicker said the four men were arrested in a house in Lamontville.

In a separate case, alleged Wentworth Hollywood gang boss Dane Majority, 36, appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Tuesday.

He faces two counts of attempted murder and murder. He was granted R10 000 bail on March 24.

On June 26, 2020, near Croton Road, he allegedly tried to kill two people by shooting them. In the same incident, Luwayne Landy was killed.
