Durban - A MAN died when his car collided with a tractor on the R614 between Pietermaritzburg and Wartburg in one of several weekend accidents.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the man was declared dead at the scene on Friday afternoon.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a light motor vehicle and a tractor were involved in a collision. The circumstances leading up to the collision will be investigated by the relevant authorities,” he said.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said a case of culpable homicide was opened at Dalton police station.

On Friday a forklift fell at a factory off Bluff Road in Jacobs, Durban which resulted in the driver sustaining minor injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Early on Saturday morning, paramedics responded to reports of a collision on Sandra Road in Ballito.

“The scene indicated that a heavy motor vehicle and a minibus taxi collided. Medics assessed the scene and found that two men from the truck sustained minor injuries,” said

Herbst.

Netcare 911 also responded to an accident on the R61 at Winterton on Saturday morning, to find that a car had overturned.

Medics who assessed the scene found that four people had sustained minor injuries.
