Durban - A Newlands East man will undergo surgery to remove a bullet from his body after an attempted hijacking in Herring Circle on Monday.
Roberto Lamas Lamalettie had stopped outside his driveway and when he got off to open the gate two men tried to hijack him of his Jetta.
One of the men shot him while attempting to take the vehicle.
It is alleged that the men got into a white Toyota Etios and fled the scene without taking the car.
His family and friends converged on the scene after the shooting. He was rushed to eThekwini Hospital where he was stabilised and then transfered to Addington Hospital.
On Facebook Mary Lamalettie said,
"Thank you Lord for your mercy on my son Roberto's life. Thank you for my family and friends who stood with me right through this ordeal. The Lord bless and protect each and every one of you. God will have the last say that's a fact."
