Durban - Two men who allegedly stabbed a pensioner to death will appear in the Phoenix magistrates court on Monday. 

On Saturday, Phoenix Crime Watch reported that a pensioner was found with stab wounds  near Abervale and Crestvale Roads in Rydalvale. 

Two men aged 18 and 19 years old were arrested shortly after the murder after brilliant investigations by police the crime watch said. 

"The victim was well known to the community and was regarded as harmless," the Phoenix Crime Watch wrote on Facebook. 

Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, a KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, said the motive for his killing is unknown at this stage and police were investigating a case of murder. 
On Facebook, Mistyj John, said it was a relative and identified the man as Cliffy John.

She said:  "Dear friends and family it is with great sadness to mention that Uncle Cliffy who is Mark John elder brother has passed away after a brutal attack on Saturday evening. Please keep our family in your thoughts and Prayers. Funeral Details will follow once all arrangements have been made".
