ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson told the media on Saturday that Dia Nana died on Thursday.

Earlier in the week, he had said that both siblings were still alive but in a critical condition and on ventilators - this after a report that both children had died.

“Paramedics found a young girl, believed to be approximately 11 years of age, had been ejected from the vehicle on impact. She was in a critical condition and needed advanced life support intervention to stabilise her. She was placed on a manual ventilator before being rushed to a nearby hospital for the urgent care she required,” Jamieson said.

“Her brother, believed to be approximately 9 years of age, was found inside the wreckage; he had sustained critical injuries and was also stabilised on the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further care.”

Jamieson said the driver, believed to be the children's father, had sustained moderate injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.
