Durban — Two men are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday after they were found in possession of stolen property and housebreaking implements.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said Umbilo police were investigating charges of possession of housebreaking implements and possession of stolen property.

Gwala said that on Saturday at 8am, Umbilo police officers were patrolling around Clark Road when they spotted a vehicle. An unknown man alighted from the vehicle and walked towards a flat.

“The suspect took police to his flat where 24 cellphones, two bolt cutters, crowbars, hammers and other housebreaking implements were found,” Gwala said.

“Two suspects aged 24 and 25 were arrested for possession of stolen property as well as possession of housebreaking implements.”

According to information received by the Daily News through the Umbilo Community Policing Forum, police found two crowbars, two bolt cutters, an angle grinder, pick, two hammers and 24 new cellphones.

“The suspects will be profiled to establish if they could be linked to more cases in the Umbilo area and within the district,” the information read.
