Durban — A dog, believed to be a pit bull, is being hailed for stopping at least five would-be house robbers from entering a property (believed to be in Newlands West) over the weekend.

In a 17-second clip, CCTV footage from inside the property, a portion of a car parked on the property is visible.

The would-be robbers reveal themselves from behind the boundary wall. Two of them jump into the property, at the same time, the dog is seen making its way towards the wall.

One suspect runs past the dog while another is stopped in his tracks by the dog and turns back and jumps over the wall.

As the dog runs back towards the house, another robber jumps over the fence but quickly jumps back as the dog returns, chasing the first suspect that jumped in and ran past the dog. The suspect jumps over the fence.
