Durban - The man accused of kidnapping Sydenham boy, Miguel Louw earlier this year, has been officially arrested for the 9-year-old's murder.

The accused, Mohammed Ebrahim, was due to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday in connection with Louw's disappearance.

While seated at the court, Ebrahim was approached by Warrant Officer Rajan Govender and informed of the charge against him.

Miguel was last seen on July 17 in the presence of Ebrahim at a KFC near his grandmother's home in Sydenham.

Following an extensive search for the youngster, private security guards discovered his body while chasing suspects involved in an armed robbery.

Miguel's body was discovered buried in a shallow grave in Longbury Drive in Phoenix in September.

His funeral was held at the St Anne's church in Randles Road, days later.

Ebrahim has been taken to the Durban Central police station, where he will be charged.
