Durban - A Phoenix family has lost all their belongings after a fire ripped through their house in Foresthaven on Tuesday. 

  

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. A short video clip shows smoke rising up from the house and flames in the front rooms. 

People scramble around outside while they wait for the fire department to arrive. 

The person recording the incident also questions a friend if had a fire extinguisher or hose pipe. 

Lyndal Singh, eThekwini ward 50 councillor, said she was rushing over to the home to offer any assistance to the family. 

"Thus far I only heard about the incident. Nobody was reported to have been injured.

The Fire and Emergency Services from Phoenix were at the scene at the time of publishing.

In May, an elderly Phoenix resident died when his room caught alight, in a block of flats in the Grove End area. Police had opened an inquest docket.
