Woman robbed and stabbed in Bluff after car breaks down
Durban - A young Durban woman, who was robbed and stabbed after her car broke down on Tara Road on the Bluff, is critical in ICU.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said it is alleged the victim was stabbed by two suspects on Tara Road on Monday night just before midnight.
"She sustained stab wounds to the body. Her handbag and cellphone were taken."
Mbele said a case of assault to do bodily grievous harm and robbery was being investigated by Brighton Beach SAPS.
News of the incident was posted on various crime watch groups on Facebook cautioning female drivers not to drive alone at night.
While more details were still expected from KwaZulu-Natal police, preliminary information from the community crime watch groups was that the 26-old woman was expected to undergo surgery on her hand and wrist and was in ICU at a private hospital.
It's alleged the woman experienced car trouble on Tara Road around the Pigeon Club area and when she pulled over.
She was then approached by two males who stabbed her multiple times and made off with her belongings.
It is further believed that she then made her way on foot for help.
Shortly thereafter the police arrived and an ambulance transported the victim to a private hospital.
It is believed her car was also taken and later recovered near the Pigeon Club area. There was blood in the car.
“Please if any young women have to be on the roads late at night then please get someone to escort them safely to their home, crime is real. Be alert and stay safe,” read the post.
