Durban — A Ladysmith mother is praying for the safe return of her 14-year-old daughter who has been missing since Monday.

Unathi Ntuli had left home to walk to Harvest High School and when she did not return home from school her family reported her missing to local police.

According to her grandfather Mandla Ntuli, the last time she was seen was when she returned home from where she had been waiting for her transport to fetch something she had forgotten for school.

He said that his granddaughter, who had now missed the transport due to coming back home, walked to school which was a short distance from their home.

“We had thought she was at school and when she didn’t come home, I was contacted and we went to report her missing to the police. We learnt that she did not reach school on Monday, we found this out on Tuesday from the school.”

Unathi’s mother Sthembokuhle Ntuli said that all she wanted was for the safe return home of her child.

“That’s my prayer to God because I miss and need her.”

Police were yet to respond to a query confirming the missing person case opened by the family on Monday.
