Durban - A drug dealer is due in court on Monday after police found drugs hidden inside the dashboard of his bakkie.
Drug dealers have become more sophisticated in their methods to transport drugs said Durban Metro police spokesperson Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad after another successful drug bust in Chatsworth.
Sewpersad said the dealer was transporting drugs from Phoenix to Chatsworth on Sunday. Police intercepted the dealer in his Chev utility bakkie at the Chatsglen offramp.
"Police searched the vehicle and the dealer. Police then found a hidden compartment behind the dashboard. These compartments are accessible through an electronic device that flips it open like a scene from a movie. The bakkie was also seized as part of the investigation, "Sewpersad said.
A total of 3200 heroin capsules was seized. The estimated street value of the drugs is worth R187 000.
The dealer is expected to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates court on charges of dealing and possession of heroin on Monday.
