Marching to the same beat: Seven successes of the SANDF at home and in neighbouring countries

Durban - Recently, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has been instrumental in assisting during times of crisis in the country.

In a recent visit to 3 South African Infantry Battalion “Home of the Griffins” at Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Chief of the SA Army Lieutenant General L.K. Mbatha mentioned seven successes of the SA army.

Here are the seven successes of the army:

  1. Exercise Amabutho - (Introduction to a modern brigade) in SA Army Combat Training Centre, where 6 000 plus members were accommodated and executed a brigade exercise without a single incident. The exercise improved the standing of the SA army in the world rankings.
  2. Operation PROSPER - The army was called upon during the civil unrest in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng last year.
  3. Operation CHARIOT - The army is currently in KwaZulu-Natal assisting with recoveries, aid and other assignments following recent floods in the province.
  4. Operation VIKELA - The 2 SA Infantry Battalion with other elements of the SANDF are going to Mozambique under the leadership of Lieutenant-Colonel Cambinda, a woman officer.
  5. Operation MISTRAL - The 21 SA Infantry Battalion is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a peacekeeping mission.
  6. Armed Forces Day celebration 2022 in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
  7. All 30-year and 40-year Medal Parades that the SA army executed on behalf of the Chief of the SANDF.
