The multiracial youth choir project, Peace Train, is reuniting for a free, 20th anniversary concert at Durban’s Stable Theatre, near Warwick Triangle, on Saturday from 1pm.

Preparing for the show are, from left, Nokuzola Majola, Nonhlanhla Wanda, Sharon Katz and Bongekile Cibane.

Katz and Wanda formed the choir in Durban in 1993 and backed it with their 10-piece band for a show at the city hall to help promote a peaceful transition to democracy.

The group then did a pre-election performance tour across the country by train – The Peace Train – and a post-election tour in America.

Now a documentary film is being made about those historic times and what has happened in the lives of the participants and the country since the first democratic elections.

All original participants, their families and project supporters are invited to the concert and reunion party. A film crew will conduct interviews for the movie. Picture: Gcina Ndwalane
