It turns out costumes inspired by the hit series on Netflix, primed to be the streamer’s most popular series to date, are selling like hot vetkoeks on a rainy day on online stores.

The green and white tracksuits have popped up on different online retail stores leading up to the popular Halloween holiday which is celebrated in different parts of the world on October 31 but not so much in South Africa.

According to Variety, data shows white slip-on Vans have also seen a 7 800% increase in sales since the show began streaming on Netflix.

The nine-episode series follows a group of debt-ridden citizens who compete in a Hunger Games like competition for the chance to win billions of Korean won.

Depending on the retail store you trust the most, you can get the Squid Game green and white tracksuit from R399 to R1 400.

On squidgameoutfit.com for example you can buy one for R760.
