Durban - A taxi boss was shot and killed in Tongaat on Monday. 

The attack comes two days after a taxi driver was killed in Verulam on Saturday night. 

According to KwaZulu Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele,  the 52-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed by the unknown suspect at around 20:25 pm in Tongaat. 

"He sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and mouth and was certified dead at the scene. "

Mbhele said the motive for the attack is unknown. 

"A case of murder was opened at Tongaat police station for investigation."

On Saturday night a taxi driver was travelling with 2 passengers between Verulam and Cottonlands and Verulam when he was shot dead. 

The front seat passenger was shot in the arm and the other passenger escaped unharmed. 

Police could not confirm if it was related to taxi violence. 

No arrests had been made by Tuesday.
