In April

we say hello to a new family that will grace the small screens in Imbewu: The

Seedon e.tv.

The daily local

production promises to be nothing less than ground-breaking, as it scales

through the lives of the Zimele and Bhengu family.

The world of  Imbewu: The

Seed is a reflection of the unique interaction between rural

and urban lifestyles in South Africa. It will also showcase the struggles

and conflicts between home and corporate settings and the emotional tension

created by the economic gap between the haves and have-nots.

Along with the fresh and entertaining storyline comes a host

of new local talent, alongside icons Leleti Khumalo and Thembi Mtshali-Jones.

Central to the plot is the Bhengu family, comprising Mazulu (Leleti Khumalo);

MaNdlovu (Thembi Mtshali-Jones); Ngcolosi (Mpumelelo Bhulose); Zithulele

(Rafael Griffiths); KaMandosela (Fundiswa Zwane) and Kanyo (Nqobile Ndlovu) The

family also features Vuyokazi Tshona as Buhle, Nokubonga Khuzwayo as

Zakhithi, Xolani Mfeka as Nganono, Sandile Dlamini as Phakade and Nokwanda

Khuzwayo as Futhi.

Interestingly it revolves around a modern society which

worships wealth and rewards ruthless acts of power.

The Bhengu family has been keeping a secret from the

other for many years, with treachery and tumult never more than a step away.

Brothers Zimele and Phakade are both honorable men, but

one will feel betrayed when he learns of a deep secret that could leave a stain

on the legacy he hopes to leave for his four children.

The potential fallout is certain to provoke controversial

questions about values and legacies, relevant to all South African cultures.

Imbewu: The Seed

features new talent from KwaZulu-Natal that we know will make an impact on our

television screens,” said executive producer, Molefe Lebone.

He said the move to have these fresh faces share

the screen with iconic industry veterans is one which assures the future of South

Africa’s acting talent pool.

* Imbewu: The Seed

is produced by Grapevine Productions, which is a joint venture between Anant

Singh's Videovision Entertainment, Duma Ndlovu's Word Of Mouth Pictures and

Luyks Productions.
