Local celebrity Bonang Matheba has once again touched on the topic of abusive relationships and how she managed to overcome it.

During an interview with Kaya FM deejay Thabo “T-Bose” Mokwele on Wednesday, Bonang said: "I have been in a relationship where the other person was completely controlling. You crumble and feel like you've hit rock bottom, the bottom of yourself."

Bonang previously opened up about an alleged abusive relationship during a Marie Claire interview last year.

The TV personality told the magazine that she learned to master silence because she is not combative.

"I have mastered the art of silence. I am not combative. I don't enjoy arguments. I don't like to fight. I am a very peaceful soul," she said.

Speaking to Kaya FM, Bonang shared how hard it was to break free from an abusive relationship.

"It (the actions) is disguised as love but love is supposed to be free. You only realise (just how much you allowed and put up with) when you are out of the relationship," she said.

Despite sharing some demons from her past, Bonang also spoke about her desire to release two more books and her childhood dream of becoming a grade 2 teacher.

Bonang also shared her 'secret' to success: “My career is my life. I have a great team that teaches me time management. My schedule works seamlessly. I have the ambition of about 10 or 20 people. I grew up with people teaching me that.”

Bonang is currently in a long-term relationship with SA rapper AKA.
