Designer Profile: David Tlale

For his education, Tlale attended the Vaal University of Technology in South Africa, where he was inner as an institutional representative for VUT at the Summer Cup Horse Racing Fashion Competition. In 2005, Tlale was approached by Carducci to design Carducci woman range. The following year, Tlale was selected as one of five South African designers to take on the challenge to design the Canderel pocket sash.
To go along with his numerous fashion show appearances, Tlale has collected a number of prestigious fashion awards. He was the winner of the 2003 SAFW Elle New Talent Show Competition and was also nominated that same year as the best new designer of the year by the Sunday Times. In his young career as a fashion designer, Tlale has the experience to dress the elite in entertainment and music. In 2003, Tlale had the privilege to dress international gospel musician Yolanda Adams.
Tlale continues to collect fashion nominations and awards as well. In 2007, Tlale was nominated for Marie Claire Prix D'Excellence De La Mode 2006 that was held on the 12th April 2007. Tlale was also one of the four selected African designers to showcase their talent at the Paris Couture Fashion Week exhibition that will be held on 6th July 2007 and also to show case a Ready-to- Wear collection set to take place in October 2007 in Paris. Tlale was also nominated for True Love Fashion Awards, which will be on 24 November 2007. Besides collecting various fashion awards, Tlale has also appeared many South African publications such as Elle, Top Billing, and the Sunday Times.
The plan for David Tlale's fashion line is to receive local acclaim to become a top couture house in South Africa before taking on the global market. His label has been well received since its inception on 2002 by South Africa, and he is building an established brand has a strong sense of style and individuality as its signature.
