Okmalumkoolkat, real name Simiso Zwane apologised to his fans, especially women, for the sexual assault case.

In a series of Tweets the rapper expresses his remorse.

He writes:

“It’s no secret, I was convicted with assault with intent of indecency and assault with intent in Australia while on tour..."

I AM SINCERELY SORRY THAT A WOMAN FELT VIOLATED ON MY ACCOUNT. I SPENT TIME IN PRISON, SERVING A SENTENCE GIVEN TO ME BY THE JUSTICE SYSTEM

I ADMIT THAT I DID NOT ISSUE A SOLID APOLOGY WHEN I GOT BACK. INSTEAD I OPTED TO STOP THE MEDIA FROM HARASSING MY FAMILY & TEAM. APOLOGIES

UNDERSTAND THAT SEXUAL ASSAULT IS PART OF A DISEASE CALLED 'RAPE' AND THIS DISEASE PLAGUES THE WHOLE WORLD BUT MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD IN S.A

RAPE IS EVERYWHERE, AT HOME, IN THE WORKPLACE, AT PARTIES, IN RELATIONSHIPS EVEN IN MARRIAGE

I AM A BROKEN MAN FROM THIS BROKEN SOCIETY. WHERE WE ARE ALL SMILES AND POUTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS BUT WE DONT TALK ABOUT THESE ISSUES

I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY THE FACT THAT WE ARE ANTI-RAPE AND WE GONNA KEEP MAKING ART THAT WILL INFLUENCE A BETTER GENERATION

He went on to say what the experience taught him to be ''more responsible''.THAT EXPERIENCE ALSO TAUGHT ME TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE WITH MY CRAFT AND THAT IS EVIDENT ON THIS ALBUM. I AM A POSITIVE VOICE

And he apologised yet again:

WITH THAT BEING SAID, I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGISE AGAON TO EVERYBODY, ESPECIALLY WOMEN. I AM SINCERELY SORRY

— #MLAZIMILANOⓂ️Ⓜ️ (@okmalumkoolkat) March 8, 2017

And he speaks about the idea behind Caiphus song:

I DESIGNED AN ARTWORK FOR @akaworldwide CAIPHUS SONG, LAST MONTH. ITS ABOUT REAL LOVE AND THATS WHAT WE ARE PROMOTING. WHY TEAR THAT DOWN?

This is following City Press's 'convicted sex offender' headline that caused social media row on Tuesday, that saw AKA coming to his pal's defence.

Taking to Twitter AKA stated that the publication was making its agenda too obvious by writing the headline now that Okmalumkoolkat had worked with him - when he had also worked on other projects since his sexual assault case.

He wrote:

“What you need to realize about this article is it's actually aimed at me, not him .... it's ME they seek to destroy & discredit.”

This is not the first time the rapper apologised, see the  below tweet shared by one user:
