Britney Spears won't perform again if her dad remains her conservator

Britney Spears “will not perform” whilst her father is her conservator, as her lawyer insists the singer is "afraid" of her dad, Jamie Spears.

The “Toxic” hitmaker recently filed new documents via her lawyer which asked the courts to strip her father, Jamie Spears, from his position as co-conservator of her estate entirely, as she no longer wants him in control of her life and career.

And now, her lawyer has claimed Britney is “afraid” of her dad, and doesn’t want to step foot on stage until he has been ousted from his role as conservator.

During a court hearing on Tuesday, Samuel D. Ingham III said: “My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She also stated that she will not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career. We are really at a crossroads.”

In response, one of Jamie’s lawyers, Vivian Lee Thoreen, reportedly accused Samuel of preventing Britney from speaking to Jamie.

The court hearing was held to determine whether Jamie will remain the co-conservator of Britney’s estate, but Judge Brenda Penny ultimately decided not to suspend Jamie, although she said the matter can be further discussed “down the road.”

In Britney’s original request to have her dad removed from his role, it was claimed she wanted the Bessemer Trust Company, who currently jointly hold the position, to become the sole conservator of her finances.

The court papers explained the 38-year-old star - who has had someone else in control of her personal and financial affairs since 2008 - was informed her business management company, Tristar Sports and Entertainment Group, had resigned from representing her on 28 October and claimed Jamie then hired Michael Kane of Miller Kaplan to take over without telling her or giving her chance to interview, review the terms of his hiring or consider alternatives.

Britney is concerned about the new appointment because she's worried Jamie's goal was to "introduce a new gatekeeper who admittedly has a major working relationship with [Jamie's] legal team" and believes he did so as part of his attempt to "retain full functional control of her assets, books and records.”

The “Gimme More” singer had requested earlier this year to have Jamie removed as sole conservator of her business affairs, but was fine to have him stay on as co-conservator, but she now wants his involvement removed entirely.
