Caitlyn Jenner feels she was "put on this earth" to raise transgender issues.

The 'I Am Cait' star - who was known as Bruce Jenner before undergoing a gender transition - feels she must tell her story "on the highest level" for the sake of the entire community she represents.

She told Glamour magazine: "I started thinking, 'Maybe this is why God put me on earth.' This issue has been swept under the rug for so long.

"I need to tell this story on the highest level you can possibly do it. Not just for me but for this entire community."

Meanwhile, the 66-year-old television personality - who has been named one of Glamour magazine's Women of the Year - previously admitted she lies awake at night worrying if she is a good role model for young people.

She shared: "It's 4.32am in the morning. And I can't sleep. In the monitor, I look like c**p but anyway.

"I feel bad that people, especially young people, are going through this difficult time in their life. We don't want people dying over this, we don't want people murdered over this stuff. What a responsibility I have towards this community.

"Am I going to do everything right? Am I going to say the right things? Am I going to project the right image? My mind is just spinning with thoughts. I just hope I get it right."
