Cardi B has defended her decision to keep her baby, claiming she can be a mother and have a job at the same time.

The 25-year-old rapper debuted her baby bump whilst co-hosting ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Monday, April 9, and after receiving criticism from some people who questioned whether she’d be able to balance her personal and professional life as a new mother, Cardi has said she’s “disgusted” by the notion she can’t do both.

She said: "I'm a grown woman, I'm 25 years old, I'm a schmillionaire. ...I'm prepared for this. It just really bothers me and it disgusts me … It's like, 'Why can't I have both?' Why do I have to choose between a career and a baby? I want both.”

Despite hitting back at her critics, the ‘Bodack Yellow’ hitmaker - who is having her baby with her fiancé and Migos rapper Offset - has admitted she did consider terminating her pregnancy for a short while.

When asked whether she thought about having an abortion, Cardi said: "Kind of, sort of, but then again, no. I just didn't want to deal with the whole abortion thing. I just didn't want to.”

And it wasn’t just online critics and trolls who hit out at her pregnancy, as Cardi revealed that even her inner circle had their doubts.

She said: "A lot of people were telling me, 'What are you doing? What are you doing?' And I'm like, 'OK, I'm pregnant, but I have a game plan.’ Y'all gonna have a job still.”

However, although the ‘Bartier Cardi’ is adamant she has a “plan”, she does admit her pregnancy wasn’t a pre-planned affair.

Speaking on US radio station iHeartRadio on Tuesday, April 10, Cardi said: "It was just one night. It was a good night. It had to be that night."
