London - Miley Cyrus has "retired" from twerking.

The 21-year-old singer - who hit the headlines last year after she provocatively danced up against Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) - has decided to give up the bottom shaking dance move.

Speaking to MTV, she said: "I've retired [from twerking], yeah. I'm making some music right now with The Flaming Lips. It's different. It's a little psychedelic."

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker's decision to quit the raunchy move comes after she watched Nicki Minaj twerk during her performance of 'Anaconda' at the VMAs in Inglewood, California, last night.

When speaking about how 'Anaconda' had beaten 'Wrecking Ball' for the most views in 24 hours, Miley said: "With that ass ... I ain't got that ass. I can bring that body, I can bring that wrecking ball, but I can't bring that ass. Not that Anaconda."

Meanwhile, Miley was awarded the Video of the Year prize for the catchy hit at last night's ceremony and she pulled on people's

heartstrings when she let her homeless friend Jesse collect the gong on her behalf.

Speaking to E! News, she said: "Last year [at the VMAs] was so stressful that this year, I'm so happy."
