London - Lindsay Lohan is to make her West End debut in September.

The Ambassador Theatre Group has confirmed the 'Mean Girls' actress, who recently documented her battle to get her career and life back on track on her self-titled OWN reality TV series following her sixth stint in rehab last year, will perform eight shows a week in 'Speed-the-Plow' from September 24 to November 29 at London's Playhouse Theatre.

The 27-year-old actress first revealed last week that she would be taking on the lead role in the revival of David Mamet's production, which offers a satirical look at Hollywood.

She said: "It's the first time I've done a stage play or anything like that. I'm nervous but I'm excited."

Madonna played the same character in the original 1988 Broadway production of the play, which marked the 'Hung Up' hitmaker's own stage debut and won two Tonys.

An official synopsis for the play was unveiled today (26.06.14), stating: "When a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit, film producers Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox are convinced this is the break of a lifetime. That is until Karen (played by Lindsay Lohan), a temporary secretary, derails the dream.

"When she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favour of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures..."

It is not yet known who will star alongside the troubled starlet. - BANG Showbiz
