London - Peaches Geldof's friends insist she wasn't on drugs before her “unexplained and sudden” death.

The 25-year-old, who was the second daughter of Live Aid founder Bob Geldof and TV presenter Paula Yates, had previously admitted to drug use as a teenager but said in 2009 that she was "sober now”.

She leaves behind sister Fifi Trixibelle, and a half-sister, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, her mother's daughter with late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.

The star's body was found at her five-bedroom home in Kent, England at 1.35pm on Monday, and while pals admit she was “fixated” on her late mother Paula Yates' death from an accidental drug overdose in 2000, she was devoted to her husband Tom Cohen and sons, Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone is in complete shock. She was devoted to her children she was always with them.”

The friend added: “The reason she was so thin is because she had an underactive thyroid and when she got pregnant, that went mental.

“She wasn't on drugs, well, not that her friends knew. We'd have stepped in otherwise.”

Police officers found no evidence of hard drugs or a suicide note at the model and DJ's home, and there were no visible signs of injury.

But another insider said: “She had her mother's temperament. It's like she had a daughter/mother death wish.

“I think she thought dying young was somehow romantic - you leave behind a myth.”

The blonde beauty's final post on Twitter on Sunday featured a picture of Peaches with Paula, and the caption: “Me and my mum.”

Peaches' second husband Tom, the singer in the now-disbanded group SCUM, said: “My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day. We shall love her forever.”

An ambulance was spotted arriving at her home at 8.30pm on Monday night and forensic experts left the property 30 minutes later.

A post-mortem is expected to take place later on Tuesday. - Bang Showbiz, IOL and Sapa-AFP
