Serena Williams received a very large gift from her family, as she marked her return to tennis.

The grand slam tennis champion returned to tennis two weeks ago, appearing at the Fed Cup, after giving birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

Her husband and Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian Sr., posted up four billboards on a highway in California, each with a special message to Williams, as a gesture of love and support.

The highway is located near the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which is where Williams will pick up the racquet again at next month’s BNP Paribas Open.

These just went up on alongside I-10 into Palm Springs. @olympiaohanian & I wanted to welcome her back to tennis. Designed them myself, with some help from Jr. #GMOAT

The billboards read: "Greatest Momma of All Time! G.M.O.A.T - Alexis Ohanian Jr. & Sr."

Williams, replied to the romantic gesture on Ohanian Sr.'s Instagram post of the billboards: "Literally am crying. This is so sweet. I love you".

Williams, 36, revealed recently she almost died during childbirth because of blood clots in the lungs and a haematoma in her abdomen.

Serena Williams was awarded with the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award, beating Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya, at the Laureus awards held last night in Monaco.
